The Shaftesbury Theatre is a Grade II listed theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End. The basement alterations are part of the extension to the basement. JMS were instructed by the client to design the significant structural alterations to create a dynamic subterranean basement to the building.

This extension of the basement box will help to create a grander, more flexible hospitality area and improve audience circulation throughout the front of house. The fit out works will now commence and the space will predominantly be used as a bar extension and hospitality suite.

Both MJC Engineering and JMS first became involved in this project back in 2017, so it is most satisfying to see the completed scheme. We are delighted to have been involved in such a prestigious project, working alongside Bennetts Associates and Fabrite Engineering
